Participation of the Ambassador of Romania at the marking of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership in Dublin (Government Buildings, 11 June 2019)

On 11 June 2019, under the aegis of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a Seminar dedicated to the marking of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership was organized in Dublin by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the European Movement Ireland.

The event, which was attended by  members of the Diplomatic Corps and scholars, was opened by H.E. Mrs. Helen McEntee, the Minister of State for European Affairs, TD and H.E. Mrs. Manuela Breazu, the Ambassador of Romania to Ireland.

Minister McEntee underlined that this was the first event dedicated to the Eastern Partnership for Ireland and thanked the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union for including this topic on its list of priorities and, as well, the Ambassador of Romania for her involvement in this process.

Ambassador Breazu pointed out that the Eastern Neighborhood is a priority for Romania as well as for the European Union, as a whole, and, therefore, it is necessary to convey a united and coherent message from all the EU Member States in this respect. Recalling the numerous events organized by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union to mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Eastern Partnership, the Ambassador of Romania presented the main achievements of the Eastern Partnership Ministerial Conference in Brussels, which took place on 14 May 2019: raising the visibility of the Eastern Partnership through a better public communication, launching priorities in the areas of the Digital Agenda, Energy and Transport, and launching a process of reflection on the future of the Eastern Partnership beyond 2020.

During the seminar, which was moderated by Daniel Keohane (European Movement Ireland), there were presentations made by the European Commission representative, Lawrence Meredith (DG NEAR), Professor John O'Brennan (Maynooth University), and the Charges d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia (George Zurabashvili), Republic of Moldova (Ms. Larisa Miculet) and Ukraine (Ms. Olena Shaloput), as well as the representative of the Armenian Embassy in London (Mr. Aram Araratyan).
