Participation of the Romanian Embassy at the conference, “30 Years On: Insights from East-Central and Wider Europe”

On 24 September 2019, the prestigious "Trinity College Dublin" hosted the conference entitled "30 Years On: Insights from East-Central and Wider Europe", dedicated to marking three decades since the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe. The event was co-organized by the Embassies in Dublin of Georgia, Germany, Latvia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary, which were also joined by the Kazakh Embassy in London.

During the conference, representatives of the academic environment from the 10 countries spoke about the multi-dimensional changes that took place in the Central - Eastern Europe as a result of the end of communism.

On behalf of Romania, Dr. Emanuel Coman, assistant professor at the Center for European Studies of the "Trinity College Dublin", presented some aspects of the communist period in Romania, underlining the challenges that Romania had to face during the transition from a centralized economy to a market economy.
